OT14 2Chronicles 36

Study with Pastor Kelvin

Read: 2 CHRONICLES 36

Summary:
The final cycle of the chroniclers history concludes with the briefest of reviews of Judah's last tragic years. With Josiah dead, Jehoahaz becomes king. In just three months he is deposed by Egypt, which has halted the Babylonian advance. But Babylonian armies soon force the Egyptians back, and Babylon dominates Syria-Palestine. Jehoiakim is attacked and deposed by Nebuchadnezzar, and is replaced by Jehoiachin. The 18 year old ruler survives only three months. Nebuchadnezzar then replaces him with Zedekiah, who rules the last eleven years of Judah's existence. The people of Judah despised God and His Word. In the end God handed His people over to Nebuchadnezzar, who carried them away into captivity. But God remained faithful to His people. In time, the Babylonian empire was overthrown by the Persians, and in his first year Cyrus of Persia issued a decree permitting the Jews to go home.

Prayer Point:
In the name of Jesus Christ as I pray, O' Lord cast me not away from thy presence and let not my enemies triumph over me.
